Among the different events that have characterized the 2018 Fuorisalone, the project called San Marco, realized to enhance the Church of San Marco in Brera, should be highlighted. Among the different events characterizing the Fuorisalone 2018 which should be highlighted are the San Marco Project, designed to enhance the Church of San Marco in Brera, its cloister and the square in front of the church. This monumental complex was one of the most visited places of the event and focused on themes that led to an elegant and refined encounter of classic and modern art and design.
At Piazza San Marco the highlight was the project ABLE TO design + art which saw the participation of a large number of brands, including Kerasan, with an exceptional collection, Artwork. This is a collection born from the desire to bring users into a world of sanitary ware with unusual shapes, real sculptures that are outside the box. The undisputed protagonist of the Artwork collection, present at the Fuorisalone event, was undoubtedly the Moloco washbasin by the designer Fabrizio Batoni.
Moloco is a free-standing washbasin, a single block of fine fire clay worked and moulded to give shape to a face that recalls ancient African masks, with an elongated profile and magnetic expression. Almost one meter high (the precise measurement is 94.5 cm), the Moloco washbasin rests on an elliptical base measuring 41x37.5 cm.
Ceramic and elegance
The use of ceramic, worked according to ancient techniques combined with modern technology, has enabled giving life to this sink-sculpture, characterized not only by a unique design and a strong aesthetic impact, but above all by a particular elegance. Its ideal context is naturally a modern, if not futuristic, bathroom, but it can also be successfully used in ethnic settings. The choice of different colours and finishes, in fact, expresses a new character, making this accessory suitable for modern, shabby chic, minimalist, or other contexts.
The classic version of the Moloco washbasin uses fine white, enamelled or matte finish fire clay. Moloco can however also be requested in black, either in polished or matte version with a customized finish. The most requested versions are in gold and platinum, colours that make the sink particularly elegant and refined, giving it a greater aesthetic hint. The different versions can give life to very contrasting environments and can be used in contexts with a vast variety of colour schemes. This is especially true for the white version, able to adapt to any type of environment and to any colour choice made for the bathroom.
One of the peculiarities of the Moloco washbasin is that it can be interpreted and transformed from a simple sink to a sculpture. An example of such use was given during one of the events of the Fuorisalone, during which the sink was used as a vase-sculpture in which various floral arrangements were inserted.
Measurements and technical characteristics
As pointed out, the Moloco washbasin is 94.5 cm high and rests on a base measuring 41x37.5 cm. For correct installation, however, it is fundamental to evaluate the other measurements, in particular the depth. This, in its maximum size, is 51 cm on the side, while the width of the face of Moloco is 45 cm. All the technical features are shown on the package leaflet. It must be emphasized that to ensure correct installation of the washbasin and to connect the pipes and siphons to the domestic water supply, all the instructions must be followed carefully. If you do not have the necessary competence for operations of this type it is essential to contact an expert technician.
